Privacy Policy
KeyCommander
Last updated: 28 April 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Birchlabs / Thomas van der Burg (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with KeyCommander (“Software”) and the Birchlabs website.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
KeyCommander runs on your local machine and does not:
- Collect or transmit any personal data
- Include analytics or telemetry of any kind
- Track your usage or behavior
2. Local Log Files
The Software writes log files to your local machine for debugging purposes. These logs remain on your device at all times and are never transmitted to us or any third party. You can locate and delete these files at any time.
3. Purchase and License Verification
KeyCommander is sold through LemonSqueezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record. When you purchase the Software, LemonSqueezy collects your payment and contact information (such as your email address) to process the transaction. This data is handled by LemonSqueezy in accordance with their own Privacy Policy, which you can find at lemonsqueezy.com. We receive only basic transaction confirmation from LemonSqueezy and do not store your payment details.
The Software connects to the internet to verify your license with LemonSqueezy. This verification does not transmit any personal data beyond what is necessary to confirm that your license key is valid. No usage data or behavioral information is sent during this process.
4. Files on Your Machine
With your explicit action, the Software reads your Cubase Key Commands XML file and writes files to your Cubase MIDI Remote folder. This data never leaves your machine and is used solely to provide the functionality of the Software.
5. Website Analytics
The Birchlabs website uses analytics to understand how visitors use the site (such as which pages are visited and where visitors come from). This may involve cookies or similar tracking technologies. The Software itself contains no analytics or telemetry of any kind – analytics apply to the website only. If you prefer not to be tracked on the website, you can use a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts.
6. Embedded Checkout
The Birchlabs website uses an embedded checkout provided by LemonSqueezy to process purchases directly on the page. When you interact with the checkout, you are communicating with LemonSqueezy’s servers. LemonSqueezy may set cookies and collect information such as your name, email address, and payment details in order to process your transaction. This data is handled by LemonSqueezy in accordance with their own Privacy Policy, available at lemonsqueezy.com. We do not receive or store your payment details.
7. Children
The Software is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on the Birchlabs website with an updated date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, contact: Birchlabs / Thomas van der Burg
